How to play Skate 3 in your browser
Choose the right build first. A web session and a desktop engine installation have different setup requirements.

1. Start with the browser build
Our homepage launches the third-party Skate 3 clean room web project in an iframe. Press Start session, wait for the engine and shaders to load, then click inside the canvas. The default map is KenneyPark, an original park assembled with Kenney’s Mini Skate kit.
The project’s author describes its bundled pack as regenerated. That description belongs to the author; it is not a claim by this site that all underlying rights have been independently cleared. See the project’s detailed explanation.
2. Know what “your own game files” means
The separate SK8-ENGINE desktop engine ships without Skate 3 assets. Its current Windows setup accepts a Skate 3 Xbox 360 ISO or default.xex in an extracted game folder. Keep the accompanying data folder in place. Use files you are entitled to use from your own copy.
The web build’s Open .skate file… picker loads a compatible map file. It is not an ISO loader. Do not drop an Xbox 360 ISO into that picker.
3. Prepare the desktop engine
- Read the current upstream README and release notes, then obtain the Windows experimental release from the linked upstream release page.
- Extract the ZIP and launch
skate3rust.exe. - Select your Xbox 360 ISO or the extracted
default.xex. The project says ISO extraction needs internet access. - Allow the first conversion to finish. The tool prepares the skater, animations and disc maps, then starts University.
- Use a compatible controller. Escape opens graphics, difficulty and map settings.
This is the documented desktop flow, not a browser installation. We have not run this conversion with a retail game copy. Upstream instructions may change, so treat the linked README as the current reference.
4. Open your own compatible map in the web build
- Launch the game on this site. If the file picker fails, end the session and retry in a supported desktop browser.
- Open the Map selector and choose Open .skate file….
- Select a compatible map that you are allowed to use. The project reads and caches it in your browser; its loader may need browser storage enabled to reload the map.
There is no universal instruction for transferring a desktop installation into every web fork. Follow the documented file formats for your selected build.
What you should not expect
The web project is experimental. Its README excludes the large DownTown, University and Industrial districts from the current web build. Do not expect the complete original career, licensed soundtrack, or exact gameplay parity.
